Throughout this course, I have learned some amazing tools to aide me in differentiating my daily lessons. I have learned how to use a social networking source to keep me in contact with my colleagues.
I have learned how to communicate with my classmates using a social networking tool called Google Groups. By using this network, it enables me to keep in constant contact with fellow educators and upload / share information relevant to our careers. The network will always have the information available and allow for me to go back to the network to get the information when it is needed. I have never used a tool such a social networking site like Google Groups. I find it user friendly and I will continue to use this even when the course comes to an end. I believe that using this will enable me to be up to date with new and improving technologies that other professionals have worked for them or are looking for help to plan a learning experience.
Universal Design for Learning are basic learning principles that describe how to teach, ways to teach, and how to make what you teach stick. I was very unfamiliar with the exact meaning of what UDL was and the principles that it included. UDL is the what, how, and why of learning. By using the social networking tool, UDL and technology go hand in hand. Integrating various technologies applicable to your curriculum will give your students a better chance at learning the material. Integration of technology will allow for all students the chance for an equal opportunity for education.
One of the first things that I will do with my classroom is create an environment where my students feel comfortable with working with computers. I will show my students the basics when it comes to using a computer and the proper ways to take care of them. I think that if a student knows how to use it and the proper techniques they will feel more inclined to want to use it for daily activities. I will explain and create a social network website with my students. I am going to use a social networking site that is acceptable with my district so I can share important things with my students. I believe that it will give my students a chance to express their true feelings and enable all of them to participate no matter what they think. It gives them a voice and a way to feel comfortable. I also think that by teaching like this, it will only help prepare them for their futures, using 21st century technologies.
With the 21st century bringing unexpected improvements to the internet and technology advancements, the limits are endless when it comes to discovering and creating lesson plans. Technology helps create exciting and motivating lessons to get your students excited to learn.

Week 7
Before this class, I never thought about using technology in the way that we have learned by taking this class. One thing that I have really enjoyed using is Google Groups. This is a amazing and free program where many people are able to communicate without having to be online at the same time. What a great program that can be used at various levels of students.
I have learned so many valuable online tools to use with my class. I use a lot of them on a daily basis and will continue to do so throughout the year.

Week 6
This was a very interesting assignment that I enjoyed working on... creating a DI lesson. Of cours when you create a lesson you are always keeping in mind all of your students. However, for me this lesson seemed different to me when I was creatng it.
My lesson is below:
Grade Level - 6
Subject - Social Studies and ELA
Time - Two 45 minute lessons
Standards New York State Social Studies
Standard 2: World History
Students will use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of major ideas, eras, themes, developments, and turning points in world history and examine the broad sweep of history from a variety of perspectives.
ELAStandard 1 - Students will read, write, listen, and speak for information and understanding.
Performance Indicator - Using a graphic organizer, students will take notes.
Steps for Implementing Lesson 1. Show the students the following website, http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/gods/explore/main.html and explain that the Egyptian’s believed in many gods.
2. With the aide of http://www.nettrekker.com the students will be conducting a project where they will select one God or Goddess. They will explore their significance to the culture, what they were the God or Goddess of, and draw their God, and write the God’s name in hieroglyphics.
3. I will show them the God Amun. Explain his importance, what his name looks like in hieroglyphics, and what he was the God of.
4. I will show them how to successfully surf for the information and where to look.
5. The students will be given time to conduct their research.
6. They will use the program, Kidspiration as an aide to take notes and create a notes page.
7. Students will be able to use PowerPoint, OneTrueMedia.com, or VoiceThread to create their project. My students have been introduced to all three modes, so it is their choice. (Students may also choose to use paper and pencil.)
8. Upon completion, students will share Gods and Goddess’s with the class.
Assessment
Students will be assessed by the two rubrics attached. They will be graded upon their effectiveness to research online and the content of their project.
Importance of Technology
The students will be able to select their own God or Goddess by looking at several until they find the one that sparks their interest. By giving the students a choice, this project will be highly motivating for the student. This will give the students a chance to explore different websites to determine on their own the importance of the material.
By allowing the students to use different modes to present the material, each student will select their own method that they feel suits their strengths as a learner. Previous lessons will have introduced the civilization of the Egyptians. Students will know about the land and the culture that Egyptians believed in and followed.
Technology is consistent throughout this lesson. Technology will help differentiate my lesson by giving students the ability to explore and determine what information to use. They can move at their own speed and search for relevant information. Plus, if a student wanted to do more research, they would be able to go on their own to conduct more research. All levels of ability will be met by this activity.
